Fashion Performance: Wie Forschung zu tragbaren Kleidern wird
How do research findings become everyday garments? Experience a fashion performance choreographed especially for Scientifica, featuring a collection of knit sweaters created through a collaboration between researchers and artists.
A comfortable knit sweater that draws attention to critical human rights issues? A light jacket with roots in cell biology? A sweater that embodies the fundamental laws of astrophysics? The Art x Science knitwear collection by the University of Zurich brings together artists, designers, and scientists from a wide range of disciplines. The goal: to translate complex research questions into wearable garments and thus bring these questions into everyday life.
Artists such as Leonie Böhm, Anna Anderegg, and Ibghy & Lemmens have developed designs—translated into knit sweaters—by engaging with findings from brain research, astrophysics, infectious disease research, and human rights research.
The collection was already presented at last year’s World Expo in Osaka and at Mode Suisse in Zurich. Experience it at Scientifica in a fashion performance that combines fashion, music, dance, and science. Following the performance, participating researchers will discuss the scientific principles behind the garments.
